Artist Biography
Sabrina is currently based in Memphis TN. She has been taking pictures since the age of six when she was given her first camera to use on a family vacation. “I fell in love with photography on that trip.” She perfected her craft through trial and error, eventually setting up a crude home darkroom and learning to develop film and print images.
She obtained an AA with a concentration in photography in 1990 and while in her last semester she entered into a 2-year apprenticeship at a local photography studio. After filling her apprenticeship she stayed on as a staff photographer for an additional 3.5 years. Throughout the years she has freelanced, taught adult continuing education classes in 35mm photography, black and white darkroom techniques, while expanding her body of photographic art. In 1995 she started working as an ophthalmic photographer at a retina practice. However, her true love has always been to find and capture hidden beauty in everyday places creating artistic images that display beauty in nature and in urban culture.
Having used many film cameras through the years and early low-resolution digital cameras she continues to perfect her art as the media evolves. She now works exclusively in high resolution digital.
